The St. Maries Citty Militia, our host militia, is a volunteer group of men, women, and children who re-create a colonial Maryland “armed band” at Maryland’s first capital. This living history encampment features 17th-century re-enactment units from nearby and far away. Enjoy the camp activities of cooking, gossiping, trades, games, and more!
Free admission includes grounds and activities.
Schedule for the day:
10:00 a.m. – Museum opens to the public
11:30 a.m. – Children’s drill (near the encampment)
1:00 p.m. – County Court. Trial of the Unlawful Dog
Come to the encampment and witness bickering between colonists centered around… you guessed it…An unlawful dog! (duration: 15 minutes)
2:30 p.m. – Muster and drill** (near the encampment)
3:45 p.m. – Gunnery demonstration** on Maryland Dove
4:00 p.m. – Living History sites closed for the day
