Shakespeare in the City invites actors of all ages to audition for its summer production of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
Set against the playful backdrop of a 1950s sitcom, this lively take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy brings a fresh twist to a timeless tale. The Taming of the Shrew is a fast-paced battle of the sexes featuring a cast of madcap characters. The clever Petruchio must match wits with the fiercely independent Kate, while the lovestruck Lucentio gets tangled in a web of mistaken identities as he vies for the hand of the beautiful Bianca. Will love conquer all—or will these couples remain at odds forever?
This production is a collaboration between The Newtowne Players and Historic St. Mary’s City.
