Kayaking in Southern Maryland

New Kayak Launch at St. Mary’s City this Fall

Southern Maryland Families will be able to launch kayaks at
Historic St. Mary’s City’s Chancellors Point

Families in St. Mary’s, Calvert and Charles County MD often look for fun things to do together, and few things are more fun than physical activity. Choosing activities that combine fun with physical activity is a great way to bond as a family and get healthy at the same time.

Historic St. Mary’s City understands this and welcomes the community to enjoy kayaking with the use of their new kayak launch at Chancellors Point.  The launch is expected to be available in September 2016.

New Kayak Launch Coming To Southern Maryland

According to Let’s Move!, an initiative launched by First Lady Michelle Obama to fight the problem of childhood obesity, children need 60 minutes of play with moderate to vigorous physical activity every day. Parents know it can sometimes be hard to get kids to disconnect from their devices long enough to get out and play. But kids who are supported by their families or surrounded by others interested in physical activity are more likely to participate in such activities themselves. Families looking to get fit and grow closer should consider a variety of approaches to live healthier, more active lifestyles.

Where better to get moving than beautiful Southern Maryland!  With so much for families to do together it’s time to unplug electronically and plug into the wonders of the natural environment in St. Mary’s County, Maryland.

We also invite you to explore the hiking trails at Historic St. Mary’s City for a family fun activity. This is a great opportunity for families to catch up with one another while exploring nature.

Don’t forget to stroll around the museum for a unique learning experience while you enjoy the great outdoors.

We hope to see you in Historic St. Mary’s City!
