Spend a day with hands-on, minds-on activities:

 

Town Center

  • 10:30 a.m.  Visitors will learn and play a period dice game called Passage, which was popular in ordinaries during the 17th century.
  • 11:00 a.m.  Storytime with Miss Anna – Join Miss Anna, as she tells a historical fairytale.  (approximately 30 minutes)
  • 11:30 a.m.  Dancing demonstration (with audience participation!)
  • 1:30 p.m.  Storytime with Miss Anna – Join Miss Anna, as she tells a historical fairytale.  (approximately 30 minutes)
  • 2:30 p.m.  Visitors will learn and play a period dice game called Passage, which was popular in ordinaries during the 17th century.

    • Play games (quoits, nine pins, graces, hoops)

 

Woodland Indian Hamlet

    • Fire starting demonstration
    • The importance of fish and shellfish to the native diet
    • Native agriculture and cooking practices

    • Make a clay pot
    • Grind acorns with a grinding stone

 

Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation

  • Ongoing (What can you see?)
    • Woodworking and preparing of the plantation for winter
    • Pickling of cucumbers, carrots, and beets
    • Gathering and bundling of herbs
    • Heritage breed cows (Jolly Boy and Li’l Bob); pigs (Frankie, Izzy, and Tony); and chickens
